It’s the first time that a Cardinal from this side of the ocean has been elevated to this most holy position. Many thought that the Church would never allow an American to occupy the Papacy. They didn’t want to have one country control so much of the world’s power. So why the change of mind? Well…it seems that Francis hand-picked this Pope. Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was only made a Cardinal in September of 2023. His ascension to the throne was blistering fast, to say the least. At first blush, this makes you feel good. But then you learn that there are still 4.6 million government cards out there…some with $10,000. monthly credit limits. Those are pretty generous limits.
